looking increasingly likely that Beats Music will find its way onto Apple devices early year.
Apple bought Beats Music earlier this year. At the time, it was suggested that the company might integrate the streaming service into its devices as a counterpart for iTunes.
Now according to a Financial Times report, Apple is planning to integrate Beats Music into iOS directly. That means that when you buy a new iPhone or iPad, it could come with Beats Music – or whatever Apple chooses to call it –installed from the off.
It has also been suggested that Apple may push Beats Music to existing devices as part of an update to its iOS software early next year.
Such a move would give Apple a major advantage over the likes of Rdio and Spotify. Of course whether or not people choose to use Beats Music over Rdio and Spotify remains to be seen.
Last month it was reported that Apple was contemplating folding Beats Musicinto iTunes, due to falling sales.
The Financial Times quoted “people familiar with matter” as saying that this service could be part of iOS as soon as March. That would fit in with the rumoured launch date of the Apple Watch.
Whether or not Apple is planning on including some sort of free trial subscription when someone buys a new iPod iPad or iPhone phone is unclear. However, it’s very likely that the service will not be free.
Apple has so far refused to comment on the story.
